#9 — Logging Shutdown

Logging vehicles readied to be barged off from Powrivco Bay, Lyell Island logging camp in mid July 1987. Logging was shut down in the wake of the South Moresby Memorandum of Understanding that was signed a week earlier.

#10 — RCMP truck leaves Lyell Island

This RCMP vehicle had been brought onto Lyell Island in the winter of 1985/86 when the RCMP were there arresting 72 Haidas for blockading the logging roads there in defiance of a court injunction. In this photograph, the RCMP vehicle joins logging vehicles parked on a pier in Powrivco Bay waiting to be barged off Lyell Island in the wake of the South Moresby Memorandum of Understanding.
